SS7 OAMP

Once ISDN PRI was successfully rolled out and documentation updates were completed, I was then assigned to test SS7 alarms. The SS7 alarms are part of SS7 OAMP. In researching the task, the main impact seemed to be on the MTP. The testing was actually more like regression testing because I was able to use a pre-existing test plan/specification to run the tests.

While I was testing, an order went out through the company that all contractors had to leave by the end of the year. This was October, the company was in a hiring freeze so, becoming permanent wasn't an option. With that, I began interviewing and within a few weeks, was working at Ericsson in the TDMA software verification group.

I was really sorry to have to leave the DMS-10. Little did anyone realize at the time that in just a few years, Nortel as a corporation would cease to exist.
